GTU SPI & CPI Calculator
Calculate the SPI and CPI on your GTU result from subject credits and two letter grades.
GTU SPI & CPI Calculator
Result
Credit weighted averages recalculate as you type.
About this tool
Gujarat Technological University reports a Semester Performance Index and a Cumulative Performance Index instead of SGPA and CGPA, using two letter grades from AA down to FF. This calculator applies the credit weighting used by GTU, returns the SPI for the semester and the running CPI, and converts the result with the official (CPI - 0.5) x 10 equivalence.
How it works
Using the GTU SPI & CPI Calculator in three steps
Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.
- 1
Add each subject with its credits and the two letter grade from your GTU result.
- 2
The tool computes the credit weighted SPI for the semester.
- 3
Enter your earlier CPI and credits to get the running CPI and the percentage under the GTU equivalence.
GTU credit weighted SPI
SPI = Sum of (Credits x Grade Point) / Sum of Credits- GTU grade points are AA=10, AB=9, BB=8, BC=7, CC=6, CD=5, DD=4 and FF=0.
- An FF grade earns zero points while its credits stay in the denominator.
- CPI is the credit weighted average across all semesters completed so far.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SPI, CPI and CGPA at GTU?
SPI covers a single semester, CPI covers all semesters completed so far, and CGPA is the final cumulative figure printed on the degree result. All three use the same credit weighted arithmetic.
Why does GTU use two letter grades?
The two letter labels such as AB and BC mark the intermediate bands between whole letter grades, giving a finer ten point scale.
Does a repeat subject change the SPI?
Yes. Once you clear the subject the FF is replaced with the earned grade and the index is recomputed for that semester.
Are non credit courses included?
No. Courses carrying zero credits do not affect the weighted average, so leave them out.
Do project and internship credits count?
Yes. They carry credits and a grade on the GTU result, so include them as ordinary rows.
What does an FF grade do to the SPI?
It contributes zero points while the credits stay counted, so an FF in a heavy subject pulls the SPI down sharply until it is cleared.
