About this tool

Enter the credits and letter grades for each subject in a semester to get the SGPA, then add previous semesters to obtain the running CGPA. The calculator uses the AKTU grade point mapping and credit weightage exactly as printed on the official marksheet.

How it works

Using the SGPA / CGPA Calculator in three steps

    Grade points are multiplied by credits, summed, then divided by the total credits.

    The result is your SGPA for the semester, and repeating the process across semesters gives the CGPA.

AKTU SGPA and CGPA

SGPA = Sum(Credit x Grade Point) / Sum(Credit) | CGPA = Sum(Credit x Grade Point of all semesters) / Sum(All Credits)
  • Grade points follow the ten point absolute scale notified by the university.
  • Backlog subjects are counted with the grade point finally awarded after the carry over exam.
  • Percentage equivalence is commonly quoted as CGPA multiplied by ten minus a fixed deduction.

Frequently asked questions

Does a backlog subject affect CGPA permanently?

The final awarded grade point for that subject is used, so clearing a backlog with a better grade improves the CGPA.

Are non credit subjects included?

No. Only credit bearing subjects contribute to SGPA and CGPA calculations.

Do backlog subjects count in SGPA?

A failed subject carries a zero grade point but its credits still sit in the denominator, which is why one backlog pulls the SGPA down sharply.

Are non credit courses included?

No. Audit and non credit courses have no credit weight, so they never enter the SGPA calculation.
