Official formulas

Percentage conversion formula for every supported university

One reference table with the exact equivalence each university prints in its own ordinance, so you can check a result before you quote it on an application form.

Official CGPA, SGPA and DGPA to percentage conversion formulas by university
UniversityGrading scalePercentage formulaWorked example
IGNOU100 marks per course(Assignment x 30%) + (Term-end x 70%), credit weightedAssignments and the term-end exam must be cleared separately.80 assignment and 55 term-end gives 62.5 percent
MAKAUT10 point DGPAPercentage = (DGPA - 0.75) x 10YGPA is credit weighted per year, DGPA across the full programme.DGPA 8.42 gives 76.70 percent
AKTU10 point CGPAPercentage = (CGPA x 10) - 7.5Carry-over papers are counted at the grade earned in the re-exam.CGPA 8.00 gives 72.50 percent
SPPU10 point CGPA, tieredCircular 332-2020 slabs, piecewise by grade point bandEach slab has its own multiplier, so a single formula is not valid.CGPA 7.75 falls in the 7.25 to 8.24 slab
VTU10 point CGPAPercentage = (CGPA - 0.75) x 10The 2015 to 2018 scheme and the 2021 scheme differ, pick your batch.CGPA 9.00 gives 82.50 percent
Anna University10 point CGPAPercentage = CGPA x 10No deduction is applied, distinction needs a first appearance pass.CGPA 8.60 gives 86.00 percent
Mumbai University10 point CGPIEngineering: (7.1 x CGPI) + 11, other faculties: (CGPI - 0.75) x 10Choose the scheme printed on your own transcript.CGPI 8.00 gives 67.80 percent in engineering
Delhi University10 point CGPA, UGCFPercentage = CGPA x 9.5SGPA is the credit weighted average of the semester under UGCF.CGPA 8.20 gives 77.90 percent
GTU10 point CPI or CGPAPercentage = (CPI - 0.5) x 10SPI covers one semester, CPI is cumulative across semesters.CPI 7.90 gives 74.00 percent

How it works

From grade card to verified percentage in four steps

Every calculator on Exammint Academic follows the same short path, so the result you get is reproducible by hand from your own marksheet.

  1. 1

Pick your university so the calculator loads that institution's own grading ordinance instead of a generic formula.

  2. 2

Choose the calculator you need, such as a SGPA to percentage converter, a division evaluator or an attendance tracker.

  3. 3

Enter the figures printed on your grade card: grade points, credits, internal and external marks, or attended lectures.

  4. 4

Read the result along with the formula it applied, then cross check it against the official source linked on the page.

Why Exammint

Accuracy that matches your official transcript

Most online calculators apply one generic formula to every university. That is exactly the mistake this platform avoids.

University specific rules

Each tool encodes the ordinance of one university, from SPPU Circular 332-2020 slabs to the MAKAUT DGPA deduction.

Answers in seconds

No account, no waiting, no spreadsheet templates. Enter your marks and read the result immediately.

The formula is always shown

Every tool page states the rule it applies, so you can verify the output against your own marksheet.

Your marks stay with you

Calculations are designed to run in the browser. Nothing about your grade card needs to leave your device.

Common questions

Answers students search for before a result or admission deadline

Short, rule backed answers to the questions that come up most around grade card season.

How do I convert SGPA to percentage?

Apply the formula your university publishes, not a generic one. AKTU uses (CGPA x 10) - 7.5, MAKAUT uses (DGPA - 0.75) x 10, Anna University uses CGPA x 10, Delhi University uses CGPA x 9.5, GTU uses (CPI - 0.5) x 10 and SPPU uses the tiered slabs of Circular 332-2020. Pick your university on Exammint Academic and the correct rule is applied for you.

Is there one common SGPA to percentage formula for all Indian universities?

No. The multiplier and the deduction differ by university and sometimes by faculty. Mumbai University alone uses (7.1 x CGPI) + 11 for engineering and (CGPI - 0.75) x 10 for several other faculties, so using a single formula everywhere produces a percentage that will not match your transcript.

How is SGPA calculated from credits and grade points?

SGPA is the credit weighted average of a semester: multiply each course grade point by that course's credits, add the products, then divide by the total credits of the semester. CGPA repeats the same calculation across all semesters completed so far.

Are these calculators free and do they store my marks?

Every calculator is free, needs no sign up and runs in your browser. The figures you enter are used to produce the result on screen and nothing about your grade card has to leave your device.

How accurate are the results compared with my official marksheet?

Each tool encodes the published ordinance, circular or regulation of the university, and every page links to that source document so you can verify the number yourself. Universities do revise their rules, so always confirm against the latest notification before using a value on an official form.

Which universities does Exammint Academic support?

IGNOU, MAKAUT, AKTU, SPPU, VTU, Anna University, Mumbai University, Delhi University and GTU each have a dedicated rule book and tool set, plus a common set of calculators for attendance, target CGPA, backlog impact and reverse percentage conversions that work with any credit based scheme.
