About this tool
The University of Mumbai calls its semester figure the Semester Grade Performance Index and the cumulative figure the Cumulative Grade Performance Index. Both are credit weighted averages on a ten point scale from O down to F. This calculator builds the SGPI from your course rows, folds in earlier credits for the CGPI, and shows the engineering percentage equivalent.

SGPI = Sum of (Credits x Grade Point) / Sum of Credits- Grade points are O=10, A=9, B=8, C=7, D=6, E=5 and F=0.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SGPI and CGPI?
SGPI covers one semester and CGPI covers every semester completed so far, both weighted by credits. The grade sheet prints both.
Is SGPI the same as SGPA?
The arithmetic is identical. Mumbai simply uses index terminology on its grade sheets while most universities say grade point average.
How do I treat a failed head?
Enter it with an F grade. The credits stay in the denominator with zero points until you clear the head.
Do term work and oral marks enter the index?
Yes. Each is a separate head of passing with its own credits and grade, so add a row for each one that appears on the grade sheet.
Should I add theory and term work as separate rows?
Yes, if the grade sheet lists them separately with their own credits. Each head carries its own weight into the index.
Does an F grade block the index from being calculated?
No. The index is still computed, with the failed head contributing zero points, which is how the grade sheet reports it.
