Assignments carry thirty percent and the term-end examination carries seventy percent of the course total.

Assignment marks is required.

Term-end examination marks is required.

Result

Both components must independently reach forty percent for the course to be declared complete.

About this tool

Most IGNOU courses weight the assignment at thirty percent and the term-end examination at seventy percent, but the two components must each independently reach forty percent. This estimator computes the weighted course total and reports the dual criteria separately so a strong assignment score does not hide a term-end shortfall.

How it works

Using the 30:70 Assignment & TEE Weightage Estimator in three steps

Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.

  1. 1

Weighted course total with dual pass criteria

Total = (Assignment x 0.30) + (Term-end x 0.70), with each component >= 40
  • The assignment component must reach forty percent on its own.
  • The term-end component must reach forty percent on its own.
  • Some professional programmes prescribe a higher minimum, so check your programme guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can a high assignment score make up for a weak term-end paper?

No. The forty percent minimum applies to each component separately, so the term-end paper has to clear it regardless of the assignment marks.

Does the weightage change between programmes?

The 30:70 split covers most programmes, but a few courses with practical components use a different split stated in the programme guide.

Can a strong assignment rescue a weak term-end paper?

No. Each head must independently reach forty percent, so a high assignment score cannot compensate for a failed term-end exam.

What if my course uses different weightage?

Some practical heavy courses use other splits printed in the programme guide. Use those values instead of 30:70 when your guide says so.
