About this tool

Add one row per subject with its credits and the grade point awarded, and the tool returns the credit weighted grade point average along with the total credits and grade points earned, so you can verify the SGPA printed on a marksheet.

Credit weighted SGPA
SGPA = Sum of (Credits x Grade point) / Sum of (Credits)- Grade points on the common ten point scale run O = 10, E or A+ = 9, A = 8, B = 7, C = 6, D = 5 and F = 0.
- A failed subject contributes zero grade points but its credits stay in the denominator.
- Audit or non credit courses are excluded because they carry no credit weight.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my SGPA lower than the average of my grades?
Because high credit subjects weigh more. A four credit subject with a low grade pulls the average further than a one credit subject with a high grade.
How do I enter a failed subject?
Enter the subject with its credits and a grade point of zero. That reproduces how the university computes the SGPA while the paper is pending.
Can I use this for CGPA as well?
Yes. Replace each subject row with a semester, using the semester SGPA as the grade point and the semester credits as the credits.
What grade point matches each letter?
The common mapping is O for ten, E or A plus for nine, A for eight, B for seven, C for six, D for five and F for zero.
Can I verify my printed SGPA with this?
Yes. Entering the credits and grade points exactly as printed should reproduce the SGPA on the grade card to two decimals.
