About this tool

Continuous Assessment carries a fixed internal weightage in every MAKAUT subject. The optimizer works backwards from your target letter grade and tells you the minimum CA and end semester marks combination that gets you there, so you know which subjects deserve extra effort.

How it works

Using the CA Optimizer in three steps

Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.

  1. 1

Enter your continuous assessment score and the grade or percentage you are targeting for the course.

  2. 2

The tool works backwards through the CA and end semester weightage of your course.

  3. 3

You get the minimum end semester mark needed, or a note that the target is out of reach with the CA already banked.

Subject total composition

Subject Total = Continuous Assessment + Pratical Assessment + End Semester marks
  • Internal weightage is defined per subject in the approved curriculum structure.
  • A minimum attendance requirement applies before CA marks are considered.
  • Grade thresholds follow the ten point letter grade table of the university.

Frequently asked questions

Can a strong CA score compensate for a weak end semester paper?

Partly. CA improves the subject total but the end semester component still has its own minimum qualifying requirement.

Is CA weightage the same for every subject?

No. Theory, laboratory and project subjects use different internal splits defined in the curriculum.

Can continuous assessment be improved later?

Continuous assessment is closed once the semester ends, so the only remaining lever is the end semester paper.

Why does the tool say a target is impossible?

If even full marks in the end semester paper cannot reach the target with your current CA, the target grade is mathematically out of range for that course.
