About this tool

A year at AKTU is made of an odd and an even semester that often carry different credit loads. The calculator weights each semester by its credits so the yearly CGPA reflects the real contribution of each, and reports the equivalent percentage.

How it works

Using the Yearly CGPA Calculator in three steps

Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.

  1. 1

Enter the SGPA and total credits for the odd and even semester of the year.

  2. 2

Each SGPA is weighted by the credits earned in that semester.

  3. 3

The credit weighted average gives the yearly CGPA used in progression and classification.

ATKT & Carry-Over Progression Guidelines

  • Students can carry forward failed subjects (Carry Over Papers) to subsequent semesters.
  • Clearance of carry-over subjects replaces zero grade points with earned points.
  • Honours division requires clearing all subjects in the first attempt without carry-over or grace marks.

Credit weighted yearly average

Yearly CGPA = (SGPA1 x Credits1 + SGPA2 x Credits2) / (Credits1 + Credits2)
  • A simple average of the two SGPA values is wrong when the credit loads differ.
  • Use the credits printed on each semester marksheet.
  • The percentage shown uses the official (CGPA x 10) - 7.5 conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Can I just average my two SGPA values?

Only if both semesters carry exactly the same credits. Otherwise the credit weighted result is the correct one.

Where do I find semester credits?

They are printed on the semester marksheet as the total credits registered for that semester.

Can I average the two SGPAs directly?

Only when both semesters carry identical credits. When credits differ, a plain average gives the wrong yearly CGPA.

Where do I find the semester credits?

The credits earned per semester are printed on each semester mark sheet next to the SGPA.
