Internal Sessional & External Pass Estimator

Check the 21 out of 70 external minimum and the 40 out of 100 aggregate minimum for any subject.

Internal Sessional & External Pass Estimator

Subject marks

Internal sessional marks are out of 30 and the external theory paper is out of 70.

Internal sessional marks is required.

External examination marks is required.

Result

Both the external minimum and the aggregate minimum must be met to clear the subject.

About this tool

An AKTU theory subject is only cleared when the external paper reaches its own minimum and the combined total reaches forty. The estimator evaluates both thresholds and, when a subject is short, states the external score still required given your sessional marks.

How it works

Using the Internal Sessional & External Pass Estimator in three steps

Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.

  1. 1

Enter the internal sessional mark out of thirty and the external mark out of seventy.

  2. 2

The tool checks the minimum twenty one out of seventy in the external paper.

  3. 3

It then checks the combined forty out of hundred total before declaring the subject passed.

Grace Marks Policy

AKTU awards up to 7 to 10 grace marks per academic session for borderline failed subjects to help students reach the 40% aggregate threshold (awards Grade E). Grace marks block Honours degree eligibility.

ATKT & Carry-Over Progression Guidelines

  • Students can carry forward failed subjects (Carry Over Papers) to subsequent semesters.
  • Clearance of carry-over subjects replaces zero grade points with earned points.
  • Honours division requires clearing all subjects in the first attempt without carry-over or grace marks.

Dual passing thresholds

Pass = External >= 21/70 AND (Sessional + External) >= 40/100
  • Internal sessional marks are out of thirty.
  • The external theory paper is out of seventy.
  • Strong sessional marks cannot substitute for the external minimum.

Frequently asked questions

Can full sessional marks alone clear a subject?

No. The external paper has its own minimum of twenty one, so the aggregate rule is not sufficient on its own.

Are practical subjects assessed the same way?

Practical and project components follow separate criteria stated in the evaluation scheme for your branch.

Can a high sessional mark pass the subject alone?

No. The external paper has its own minimum of twenty one, so a strong sessional cannot cover a failed external head.

What happens if only the total falls short?

If the external minimum is met but the combined total is below forty, the subject is still a backlog and has to be reattempted.
