AKTUConversion

Percentage to CGPA Converter

Reverse an AKTU percentage into the CGPA using the official 7.5 point rule.

Percentage to CGPA Converter

Your AKTU percentage

AKTU converts a CGPA to a percentage by subtracting 7.5 after multiplying by ten, so the reverse adds it back.

%

Percentage is required.

Result

CGPA plus the division that value sits in.

About this tool

AKTU converts a CGPA to a percentage by multiplying by ten and deducting 7.5 percentage points. This converter reverses the rule so that a percentage on a transcript can be quoted as a CGPA, and shows the AKTU division band the resulting CGPA sits in.

How it works

Using the Percentage to CGPA Converter in three steps

Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.

  1. 1

Enter the AKTU percentage you want expressed as a CGPA.

  2. 2

The tool adds the 7.5 percentage points the forward rule deducts, then divides by ten.

  3. 3

It shows the resulting CGPA with its AKTU division band and converts back as a check.

ATKT & Carry-Over Progression Guidelines

  • Students can carry forward failed subjects (Carry Over Papers) to subsequent semesters.
  • Clearance of carry-over subjects replaces zero grade points with earned points.
  • Honours division requires clearing all subjects in the first attempt without carry-over or grace marks.

Reverse AKTU conversion

CGPA = (Percentage + 7.5) / 10
  • This is the exact inverse of the AKTU (CGPA x 10) - 7.5 conversion.
  • A ten point CGPA maps to 92.5 percent, the highest value the rule produces.
  • Distinction needs a CGPA of 7.5 and First Division a CGPA of 6.5 under the AKTU ordinance.

Frequently asked questions

Does AKTU accept a reverse converted CGPA?

The university certifies the CGPA on the marksheet. Use the reversed value only where a form asks for a CGPA and your document quotes a percentage.

Does this work for SGPA too?

Yes. AKTU applies the same conversion rule to SGPA and CGPA, so the reverse is identical for both.

Why is the AKTU deduction larger than MAKAUT?

Each university sets its own equivalence in its ordinance. AKTU deducts 7.5 percentage points while MAKAUT deducts 0.75 grade points, which is a different adjustment.

Does the division shown confirm honours?

No. Honours also requires that no paper was carried over and no grace marks were used, which the percentage alone cannot show.

Is the rule the same for older batches?

The (CGPA x 10) - 7.5 equivalence is the ordinance rule for the credit system batches. Very old annual system results used percentages directly.
